Sports injury treatment in Bristol that gets you back to the things you love
Don't let a sports injury keep you on the sidelines
Whether it's a hamstring that keeps going, an ankle that won't fully recover, a knee that's not right, or a shoulder that's been limiting you for months, sports injuries have a cause. We find it. The injury is where the pain is. The reason it happened is where treatment needs to start. Appointments available today across 6 Bristol & South West locations.

Sports injury chiropractor in Bristol
Most people treat the injury and return to sport. The hamstring gets rested. The ankle is strapped. The knee is iced. When the pain settles, they go back. Until it happens again. The same hamstring. The same ankle. The same side. That pattern is information. Injuries aren't random.
A hamstring that keeps tearing is compensating for something. An ankle that keeps rolling has a biomechanical reason. A knee that never fully recovers is taking load it shouldn't. The injury is the result of a pattern that was already there before it happened, and returning to sport without addressing that pattern means returning to the same risk.
At Willow, the question we ask with every sports injury isn't just what happened. It's why. We assess the full biomechanical picture, identify what is driving the injury pattern, and treat that alongside the injury itself. That is the difference between recovering and not getting injured again.

Evidence-based care for sports injuries
Chiropractic is used at every level of sport, from grassroots to elite, because it addresses the mechanical cause of injury rather than just the symptoms. At Willow, we combine thorough clinical assessment with targeted treatment to establish why the injury happened, treat it directly, and build a plan to prevent it returning.
How chiropractic care can help sports injuries
Sports injuries look different for everyone
Our focus is simple: find out why the injury happened, treat the structure that's been damaged, and address the biomechanical pattern that caused it. Because an injury that's only half-explained will only half-resolve. You might be dealing with:
- A hamstring or quad strain that keeps recurring
- An ankle sprain that never fully settled
- Knee pain during or after training
- A shoulder that's been limiting you since an old injury
- IT band pain that flares with running
- A groin strain that won't clear between seasons
- Plantar fasciitis that's affecting every step
- Back or neck pain from training load or contact sport
When should you see a chiropractor for sports injuries?
You should see a chiropractor if:
- An injury isn't settling after two to three weeks
- The same injury keeps coming back
- You've been cleared to return to sport but something still isn't right
- You're compensating in your movement and know it
- You want to understand why it keeps happening, not just treat it again
- You have a season, event or competition you need to be right for
Get back to what you do. And stay there.

Sports injuries are the Saturday game you had to miss
The training block you couldn't complete. The event you'd spent months building toward that you had to pull out of. The run that keeps you level that you can't do right now. Watching from the sidelines when you should be on the pitch. Knowing something isn't right but not knowing why it keeps happening.
What happens at your first sports injury appointment?
Your first visit is a proper assessment, designed to answer the questions most athletes arrive with: what's actually damaged, why did it happen, how long will it take, and what do I need to do to stop it happening again. You'll get:
- A detailed history of the injury and how it occurred
- Orthopaedic and functional movement testing
- A thorough examination of the injured structure and the areas around it
- A biomechanical assessment to identify the pattern driving the injury
- X-rays, if clinically required
- A clear diagnosis and honest timeline for recovery
- Straight advice on what we can do, what you should avoid, and what the plan looks like
For many patients, the first assessment is the first time anyone has looked at why the injury happened, not just what happened.

Why our approach is different
By the time most people reach us, they've followed the standard sequence. Rest. Ice. Physio for the injured structure. A gradual return to training. And then, a few weeks or months later, the same thing happens again. There's a reason for that. The injury was treated. The pattern that caused it wasn't.
Physiotherapy rehabilitates the damaged structure, which has real value. But if the joints above or below weren't moving properly before the injury, they still aren't. If the movement compensation that overloaded the hamstring hasn't been identified, the hamstring will be overloaded again.
Treating the injury without understanding why it happened is why so many athletes spend whole seasons managing the same problem. What we're looking for:
- Which joints aren't moving as they should, and how that's changing the load on surrounding structures
- What movement compensations have developed around previous injuries
- How training load, technique or equipment are contributing to the pattern
- Whether this is a new injury or the latest episode of something that's been building
Once we understand the full picture, we treat the injury and the cause. That's what gets athletes back faster and keeps them there.
The sidelines aren't where you belong.
