Pins and needles treatment in Bristol that stops the signal at its source
Recurring pins and needles aren't a coincidence. They're a pattern
The tingling that wakes you at 3am. The hand that goes numb in the same spot. The foot that buzzes after sitting for a while. Occasional pins and needles are nothing. Recurring ones, in a consistent place, with a consistent pattern, are a nerve signal. Something along the nerve's path is being compressed. We find what it is and take the pressure off. Pins and needles treatment in Bristol
Occasional pins and needles from sitting awkwardly or sleeping on an arm are normal. They pass quickly and mean nothing.
What isn't normal is pins and needles that return to the same place, follow a consistent pattern, wake you at night, or appear reliably in response to certain positions or activities. That is a nerve signal, and nerve signals have a source.
Pins and needles occur when a nerve is compressed or irritated somewhere along its path. The location of the sensation tells you which nerve is affected. That nerve tells you where in the spine to look for the compression. Tingling in the hand, fingers or arm points to the cervical spine. In the foot, toes or leg, it points to the lumbar spine. The pattern isn't random. It's anatomy telling you something specific.
At Willow, we read the pattern and trace it back to its source. If pins and needles keep returning to the same place, the compression is still there. Waiting doesn't change that. We find it and address it directly.

Evidence-based care for pins and needles
Chiropractic is one of the most effective approaches for recurring pins and needles because it identifies and addresses the nerve compression causing them.
At Willow, we use thorough clinical and neurological assessment to map the pattern of your symptoms, locate the source, and treat it directly
How chiropractic care can help pins and needles
Pins & needles look different for everyone
Our focus is simple: identify which nerve is affected, find where along its path the compression is coming from, and remove it. Because pins & needles with a consistent pattern have a consistent cause, and consistent causes can be found. You might be experiencing:
- Tingling or numbness in the hand, fingers, arm or shoulder
- Tingling or numbness in the foot, toes or leg
- Sensations that are worse in certain positions or after certain activities
- Pins and needles that wake you at night
- A hand or arm that goes numb on longer drives or at a desk
- A foot that buzzes when sitting for extended periods
- Weakness alongside the tingling or numbness
- Sensations that come and go without obvious reason
When should you see a chiropractor for pins and needles?
You should see a chiropractor if:
- Pins and needles keep returning to the same place
- They wake you at night or are present when you wake in the morning
- A specific position, activity or movement reliably triggers them
- They come with pain, weakness or numbness
- They have been present or recurring for more than a few weeks
- You want to know what's causing them rather than waiting to see if they pass
The pattern has a source. Let's find it.

Pins & needles are the hand you have to shake awake before you can use it
The arm that goes dead every time you drive for more than twenty minutes. Switching which hand holds your phone because one keeps going numb. The tingling that starts every time you sit in a certain chair. Waking at 3am with a numb arm and not knowing which position will settle it. Fine motor tasks becoming unreliable: buttons, writing, holding a cup without dropping it.
What happens at your first pins and needles appointment?
Your first visit is a proper assessment, designed to map the pattern of your symptoms and locate their source. Pins & needles with a consistent pattern contain a great deal of diagnostic information, and a thorough neurological assessment makes use of all of it. You'll get:
- A detailed history of your symptoms, their pattern and what affects them
- Neurological testing to establish which nerve is involved
- Orthopaedic testing to identify the source of the compression
- A thorough examination of the relevant areas of the spine
- A postural and movement assessment
- X-rays, if clinically required
- A clear explanation of what is causing your symptoms
- Straight advice on what we can do and what the plan looks like
For many patients, the first assessment is the first time anyone has treated their pins and needles as diagnostic information rather than something to wait out.

Why our approach is different
By the time most people reach us, their pins and needles have been present for a while. A GP visit resulted in blood tests to rule out vitamin deficiencies or diabetes, which came back normal, and advice to monitor the situation. Nothing changed. The tingling kept coming back to the same place.
There's a reason that sequence doesn't resolve it. Blood tests rule out systemic causes. They don't identify nerve compression from a joint in the cervical spine. If the cause is mechanical, no blood test finds it and no supplement fixes it.
Recurring pins and needles with a consistent pattern are almost always a compression problem. Something along the nerve's path is reducing the space the nerve needs. That something can be located with a proper clinical and neurological assessment, and it can be treated.
What we're looking for:
- Which nerve is producing the symptoms and at which level
- Whether the compression is from a joint, a disc, or a combination of both
- How posture, movement and daily habits are contributing to the compression
- Whether there are secondary restrictions in the surrounding structures
Once the source is confirmed, treatment is targeted directly at restoring the space and movement the nerve needs.
You don't have to keep shaking your hand awake and hoping it passes.
